About the Show
In the early hours of May 11th, 2006, 19-year-old Luke Durbin was captured repeatedly on CCTV after a night out in Ipswich. He seemed to be trying to find his way home but he had left his phone and wallet at a friend’s house, so taxis refused to take him and there were no buses or trains.
In a final image, Luke walks over a zebra crossing close to the bus station but then disappears out of the lives of his family and friends. What happened to him? This is a high-profile mystery, and for the first time, we reveal dark details about Luke’s involvement in drugs and drug dealing which his mother knew nothing about.
Luke was in a band, was close to his family, had a job he loved, and had just been paid his salary but forgot to pick it up from work. Surely he was too happy to walk out on everything he knew and if he was heading off to start a new life, wouldn’t he have taken all the cash he could? Luke also disappeared without his mobile, passport, or credit cards.
Did he tread on the toes of other drug dealers, and is his disappearance linked to a turf war? Could someone have done him harm? Did Luke decide to start a new life somewhere else as unconfirmed sightings suggest? Or was he taken to another city and forced to work off drug debts?
A new portrait of Luke is unveiled in an exhibition to highlight the work of Missing People UK.
For Luke’s loved ones, it’s been 13 years of agony and this film explores possible answers to the one question they keep asking - is Luke Durbin missing or murdered?
